Public Safety Communicators at Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center (MCJDC) are responsible for:
Answering emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone calls Dispatching appropriate emergency service agency(ies) Operating the Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD) Operating Department of Criminal Justice Information (DCI) terminal Operating National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database Providing information/support to emergency personnel Maintaining related records and logs No prior experience is required.
This is a position for individuals who are capable and committed to learning to become a Public Safety Communicator and interested in gaining a fast-paced and rewarding career.
Applicants will be invited to complete an aptitude assessment that is specifically designed to identify individuals with an aptitude for 911 dispatching.
(See scoring under Required Qualifications) This position works an 8-hour shift:
6am-2pm 2pm-10pm 10pm-6am 10am-6pm 7pm-3am Shifts are scheduled on a rotating basis consisting of 5 days on, 2 days off, 5 days on, 3 days off.

The MCJDC is open and operational 24/7/365.
Those in training will have a varied schedule.
Once training is successfully completed, shift selection is determined based on seniority and availability.
Those that are offered a position as a trainee will complete an intensive 12-16 weeks of training which includes obtaining:
Emergency Medical Dispatch certification (three-day class) NCIC certification Any additional online certifications applicable to this position These certifications and courses are required for continued employment.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalency Must be able to type 3396 keystrokes/hour while multitasking and 1819 keystrokes/hour while listening to multiple audio sources Aptitude test, drug screen, and background check required.
A high school diploma and whatever combination of additional education and work experience provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
