Here is a rare 1969 Impala SS Custom Coupe.
This beautiful example is complete with its numbers-matching 427ci 390hp engine, original sales paperwork, Protect-O-Plate, and more.
There aren't many of these out there, and fewer still are comparable to this one.
In 1969 Chevrolet built an incredible 777,000 Impalas in a variety of body styles.
But despite this huge production number, only 2,455 were SS cars - a scant 0.
3% of production.
Further, this was the last year of the Impala SS until 1994.
Documentation shows this car was ordered on 12-27-68 and built at the Saint Louis plant by 1-17-69.
It was then dealer prepared in Fort Wayne on 1-23-69 and delivered to the customer on 1-28-69.
That is some impressive turnaround, but it had to be; they were building 70,000 Impalas per month! This example represents the Custom Coupe body style with its classy rear roofline.
This well cared for automobile shows just over 40,000 miles and looks fantastic.
It has seen a thorough reconditioning that included a quality repaint in its original code 55 Azure Turquoise.
It also received a new vinyl top and rubber seals throughout.
All moldings, trim, and emblems are in excellent condition too.
The underside is remarkably solid and just what you strive for on a car from this era.
The Rally Wheels look like new and wear BF Goodrich redline tires, including the spare.
Under the hood is the original L36 427ci setup with a factory rating of 390hp.
It has been rebuilt and now uses a Competition Cams camshaft for a little more grunt.
This is a numbers-matching block that shows an engine plant stamping of T1219LI, which matches the code on the Protect-O-Plate as well as the build chronology and application code (see https:
//impalas.
org/drivetrain/ for further details).
Note the engine VIN stamp is by the oil filter as is often seen for this model year.
The transmission is a factory TH400 automatic, while the 12-bolt rear end has an original 4-link setup with Panhard bar.
There are also power steering and power front disc brakes which are must-haves on a car of this size.
This combination of equipment means anyone can enjoy the driving experience of this big block Impala SS.
The interior is standard black vinyl with a front bench seat (yes, a bench seat was available on the 1969 SS).
It is a nice looking compartment with attractive woodgrain inserts along with the correct SS steering wheel.
Everything is in great condition including the headliner, carpeting, and door panels.
The only modifications are a set of underdash gauges and some SS floor mats.
All seat belts are in place including the front shoulder straps.
All lights work properly as do the horn, wipers, radio, and heater/defroster.
Even the key buzzer works! The 1969 Impala SS is a rare car to begin with.
This one is even more remarkable with its outstanding condition, numbers-matching 427 engine, and original documentation.
It is also a big, comfortable car that really gets down the road and makes all the right noises.
Let this amazing time machine take you back to 1969!.
