We are proud to present this gorgeous 1954 Corvette.
This car is believed to be one of the estimated 100 Sportsman Red cars produced that year.
As number 851 of 3,640 Corvettes for 1954, this one represents an early version with its hand laid fiberglass, top-through-body design, and three bullet intakes.
It not only looks fantastic but also runs like new (which is rarely the case for early C1 cars).
This Corvette was the recipient of a complete restoration that has really held up well.
It has also seen a recent mechanical refresh to keep things in proper operating condition.
The paint shines nicely and does not exhibit any significant flaws.
All the chrome and trim is brilliant, while the windshield and lenses are free of fogging, cracks, or chips.
The tan convertible top was replaced during the restoration and remains in good condition.
It also includes the rigid side / vent window pieces and their trunk storage bag.
The Firestone wide whitewall tires are brand new with less than ten miles on them.
A big question when seeing a red '54 is whether that is the original color.
These cars did not have trim tags or build sheets, and production records are not available.
Without historical documentation, one is left to examine the car's nooks and crannies for evidence of old paint.
We do see older paint behind the headlights, fuel door cover, and trunk / kick panels.
Everything we see is red.
Note this one also has an older entry in the C1 registry as a red car.
The 235 cubic inch Blue Flame straight-six was the only power plant available for 1953-54.
The engine block appears original with a casting date of C264 (March 26, 1954) and a stamp of 0455425F54YG.
As is often the case for the 6-cylinder Corvettes, the cylinder head has been replaced with a later 3836848 casting and its smaller combustion chambers, thereby bumping compression up a bit (the original was only 7.

The 2-speed Powerglide automatic was the only transmission available for 1953-56 models.
It is also believed original, as is the rear end which shows the correct (and rare) 3698950 casting number.
The carburetors and brakes have seen recent service, resulting in a C1 Corvette that really is fun to drive.
The red interior with white accents was another part of the restoration.
It really is an attractive cockpit, both straightforward and stylish.
As was the case in '54, only the driver's seat provides an adjustment and there are no seatbelts.
Each door provides a storage pocket in lieu of a glovebox.
The speedometer, gauges, headlights, dash lights, turn signals, heater, and parking brake all work properly.
The radio, wipers, and odometer are inoperative however.
Note we can install a hidden radio and/or electric wipers if interested, though either would require modifications.
This car represents the launch point for the greatest American sports car.
The 1954 cars have proven to be valuable as well with one selling for $385k earlier this year.
While a C1 may be nothing like the impressive C8 of today, 70 years ago they represented a bold step in both concept and construction.
This example may look like it belongs in a museum or even an art gallery, but it remains a real running and driving Corvette that should continue on the road for many years to come.
