This 1980 Camaro has seen a significant restoration effort, transforming this car from a tired 305ci sport coupe to the menacing 383ci machine you see today with fewer than 1,000 miles since completion.
As shown in the pictures, the car was completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal.
The restoration involved countless new or reconditioned parts along with a variety of upgrades including Vintage Air.
I think the result speaks for itself.
This Camaro was originally built in Los Angeles and wore gold paint over a tan cloth interior.
While it was well worn after 40 years of use, it was also a great restoration candidate as a straight, rust-free car.
The underside is as nice as you'll find without any signs of patchwork or accident damage.
The body was redone in Nautical Blue Pearl and wears Z28 style fenders and white stripes, while the front end has been lowered for a wicked rake.
It rides on 17 aluminum wheels with brand new tires (215/50 front, 235/55 rear).
The engine bay received a new 383ci stroker motor.
Features include Edelbrock aluminum heads and an aluminum intake topped by a Holley 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke.
It keeps cool with an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, and has a very healthy sound through the dual exhaust featuring ceramic coated headers, an x-pipe, and Pypes mufflers.
The transmission is a TH350 automatic that delivers power to an 8.
5 10-bolt rear end.
Power steering and power front disc brakes are also present.
Along with all the aforementioned items, there are so many other new parts; seals, bushings, ball joints, pivots, tie rod ends, center link, Pitman / idler arms, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, gas tank, hoses, lines, etc.
The old tan interior was completely redone in black.
The floors received an epoxy coating and were fitted with sound insulation.
The dual bucket seats were changed from cloth to vinyl.
They flank a center console housing a factory floor shifter.
The carpet, door panels, and dash pad are all new.
A modern Vintage Air system was installed that incorporates all heat, defrost, and air conditioning functions.
The horn, wipers, speedometer, gauges, lights, turn signals, backup lights, and parking brake all work properly.
A set of aftermarket oil pressure and water temperature gauges was also installed along with a Retrosound digital radio.
The second-generation Camaro has become a very hot classic with values on some models now exceeding six figures.
It offers a huge degree of refinement over the 67-69 models but still maintains a great look that was lost in the subsequent redesign.
This example has had a tremendous amount of work done and is ready to go today for just a fraction of the restoration cost.
