Here's a car that is as much fun to drive as it is to look at.
This brilliant 1973 Camaro Z28 RS has all the refinement of the second-generation design, making it a better driving car than the original 1967-1969 design.
But it also has classic muscle car looks that make a strong statement wherever you go, along with that rip-roaring ride you might remember from days gone by.
This is a genuine T-code 4-speed Z28 Camaro as evidenced by the VIN (T in fifth position) and trim tag (Z28 option).
Originally a code 24 light blue car, it has been repainted in a brilliant red while retaining the code ZR8 white striping.
The trim, bezels, lenses, and chrome are all in very good condition, and the split bumper RS front end is one of GM's all-time great designs.
This car also has the correct Z28 wheels with one-year-old tires.
It also features a front chin spoiler and 3-piece rear spoiler.
Throw in the Z28 emblems and there's no mistaking this car.
The original motor has been replaced with a 406 cubic inch small block (400
0.
030) that provides a lot more grunt than the original L82.
This is a superb street setup! While many people will take a 400 crankshaft and put it in a 350 block for a 383, this one gives you even more motor along with the stronger Siamesed 400 block (which is the desirable 3951511 casting).
This 4-bolt motor produces huge torque at low rpm and makes this Z28 a blast to drive.
It has an Edelbrock carburetor with electric choke for easy starts.
It also has a nice idle and good vacuum, resulting in decent road manners and consistent power brake operation.
The clutch and Muncie 4-speed provide smooth shifting, while the 10-bolt rear end features 3.
73 gears with Positraction and a rear sway bar.
The car also has power steering with just the right feel.
The tan interior gives a distinguished look and is surprisingly comfortable.
The carpet, seats, and door panels all look great.
The stock 130 mph speedometer and 7,000 rpm tach both work properly as do the aftermarket oil pressure and water temperature gauges.
This car is also equipped with a factory rear window defroster.
The heater, wipers, turn signals, and parking brake are all functional.
Same with the headlights, brake lights, backup lights, dash lights, and courtesy lights.
A Panasonic in-dash CD/stereo is also present.
This is the perfect car for someone who enjoys driving as much as visuals; it is a lot of fun behind the wheel but is also a huge attention getter.
And you can't say that about every old Camaro.
Further, you won't find many comparable examples of a split-bumper Z28 in this price range.
If you're going to own a classic, you might as well enjoy it to the fullest!.
