The car that started it all! We all know about the Ford Model T and how it revolutionized not only the assembly process but also the country itself.
It remains one of the best selling cars of all time with more than 15 million produced from 1908-1927.
However, 100 years later you sometimes wonder where they all went.
Well we can account for one of them.
This 1926 Runabout is a delightful example of a functional Model T.
The steel body is solid throughout and does not show any signs of rust or trauma.
Same with the underside and floors.
The black convertible top is in good condition as well.
The inner body and 21 spoked wheels are painted Windsor Maroon and give an attractive look with the black fenders, while the whitewall tires finish things off nicely.
The 4-cylinder engine appears original and has an appropriate serial number for April 1926 (13603135).
Note this serial number also appears on the title so there should be no problems with registration.
This is an important consideration with cars from this era and should not be overlooked! A 6V electric starter is present to turn the engine over, though the hand crank is there too if you want to go that route.
Both forward gears and reverse work properly as do the brakes.
The interior is no-frills Model T with a black padded bench seat and rubber floor mat.
The steering column has the usual levers for spark advance and throttle along with buttons for both a horn and a siren.
All the electric lights works properly as does the ammeter.
A water temperature gauge has been added, and there is also a power port for easy connection to a battery tender.
There just aren't many functional Model T's any more.
When is the last time you saw one of these at a car show, much less on the road? It's hard to believe anything almost a century old can still motor down the road and offer so much entertainment.
