This gorgeous 1953 Chevrolet 3100 pickup is the epitome of a classic truck.
It looks great from every angle and is a splendid example of Chevrolet's Advance Design platform.
Introduced in 1948, this represented the truck line's first major redesign since World War 2.
It was a huge success and became the best-selling truck in the United States for the next seven years.
This pickup underwent a frame-off restoration in 2012 and has seen fewer than 300 miles since completion.
It is free of any rust issues past or present and looks great from any angle.
It is as nice underneath as it is topside with everything having been stripped and painted.
The body was refinished in 1953 Burgundy Maroon which is nicely accented by the subtle cream pinstriping.
All the chrome, trim, emblems, bezels, and lenses have been reconditioned or replaced.
And just look at that beautiful front grille! Note the bumper guards and fog lights too.
The bed was redone in oak and features matching bed rails.
The painted wheels wear chrome trim rings and center caps along with Lester 6.
00-16 bias ply whitewall tires.
Power comes from Chevrolet's 216 cubic inch I6 engine which was in its final year back in 1953.
This one features an oil filter (which was not yet standard equipment) and has been converted to 12V operation.
The transmission is a column shifted three-speed manual.
The suspension, brakes, and steering have all been redone and retain a stock configuration.
Of course the restoration work involved countless new parts throughout; brake lines, fuel line, springs, bushings, shocks, hardware, wire harness, and so much more.
The interior was also redone.
The bench seat received new cushions and vinyl.
Everything else was painted, plated, or replaced.
Two neat features include a factory AM tube radio with integral speaker and a heater / defroster box which function properly, as do the horn and parking brake.
The wipers were converted from vacuum to electric operation for better performance.
The speedometer and gauges all look like new (note the temperature gauge has a positive offset).
There is also a dash prism which aided in stoplight viewing back when there was a single stoplight in the middle of the intersection.
This is a wonderful post-war pickup.
It has universal appeal and seems to bring a smile to everyone who sees it.
Further, all the work has been done; you can just get in, start it up, and head down the road.
And while you might not use it to haul a load of gravel down the back 40, it is still a useful pickup that is ready for another 70 years of service and enjoyment.
