This 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 restomod was rebuilt from 2004-2008 at a cost of almost $70k (receipts included).
It combines a classic Ford design with lots of upgraded components like a 347ci engine, automatic overdrive transmission, Mustang II front suspension, 9 rear end, and lots more.
There is a lot to like here both visually and mechanically.
This project started with a Fairlane 500 from Kansas.
Note this car was built at the Kansas City plant and ordered from the Omaha DSO, so it likely spent its life in mid-America.
The body was stripped down and any metal issues were repaired.
It was then painted in brilliant Porsche Guards Red with clearcoat.
New rubber seals were installed throughout.
Brightwork was refurbished or replaced including the distinctive 1964 side pieces, while the 260 fender badges were replaced with 347 pieces.
The polished 15 ET aluminum wheels look right at home too with BF Goodrich tires all around.
The 347 cubic inch engine was built by Whitman Engines and produced 352 horsepower on the dyno (sheet included).
Internals include a Scat crank, KB pistons, and ARP bolts.
The rotating assembly was fully balanced for smooth operation.
This is a reliable pump gas motor that uses proven street parts like an Edelbrock intake and carburetor along with an MSD distributor.
There is also a Be Cool aluminum radiator and a full dual exhaust.
The automatic transmission is a Ford 4-speed AOD unit which feeds a limited slip 9 rear end with 3.
73 gears.
This gives the best of both worlds, providing both brisk acceleration and good highway manners.
Additional upgrades include a Mustang II style tubular front suspension along with power rack and pinion steering and power front disc brakes.
There is also a new gas tank and rear air shocks.
The interior was professionally redone in a sharp black and red theme.
The seats, door panels, carpet, and headliner were all redone.
So was the dashboard and wiring harness.
There are power adjustable 60/40 front seats along with an aftermarket steering wheel on a Flaming River tilt column.
A tachometer has been added along with a trio of underdash gauges.
The heater, defroster, horn, lights, and parking brake all work properly.
Note the Fairlane 500 radio delete plate too.
This was a comprehensive build with only a few thousand miles since completion.
It represents a great deal for somebody who wants to get in and go, at a fraction of the build cost and without any waiting.
Whether you're a die-hard Blue Oval fanatic or just enjoy fun classic cars, this one is worth a look.
