This gorgeous 1964 Galaxie 500 convertible is a real 60's throwback.
With its immense proportions, comfortable seats, and soft ride it is the epitome of a land yacht.
But it also delivers with the optional Z-code 390 cubic inch engine and its 427 ft-lb of torque.
Combine that with its attractive blue paint, white power top, and two-tone interior and things really take shape.
This west coast car has seen a great deal of restoration work.
It was built at the Los Angeles plant and ordered through the Los Angeles DSO.
This southern California upbringing helped avoid any rust problems.
Originally Wimbledon White, the car was repainted in blue and received a new white top with a glass rear window.
Note there is a small spider in the windshield.
Much of the chrome and trim was redone as well (note reproductions are not available for many of these parts).
The car was also fitted with 15 chrome wheels and white stripe tires for a great period look.
As mentioned, this is a Z-code Galaxie meaning it was fitted with the 390 cubic inch FE motor.
While it has plenty of grunt, it starts easily and has great road manners.
This one is topped with a Holley 4-barrel double-pumper carburetor.
The automatic transmission has been upgraded from the original Cruise-O-Matic to a more robust C6.
This is followed by a 9 rear end with 3.
00 gears for good highway performance.
Of course, with a car of this size, power steering and power brakes are a must.
Both work great and are very effective on this large automobile.
Note the dual reservoir master cylinder too.
The interior was upgraded with bucket seats and a center console.
Everything was done in a two-tone color scheme that matches the paint and top colors.
It all looks terrific, especially with the top down.
The dashboard has a stock configuration except for the aftermarket digital radio.
All the gauges and indicator work properly.
Same with the horn, wipers, and heater/defroster.
The lights, turn signals, and parking brake are all good as well.
The trunk has been carpeted and include a spare tire and jack.
I think it's funny to see how little space that full size spare occupies in that enormous compartment.
The Galaxie dominated Ford's production throughout the early 60's.
They absolutely don't make them like this anymore, which makes it a real treat to get behind the wheel of this car and relive the automotive glory days.
This one is turn-key and ready for its next owner to enjoy cruising the boulevard or travelling the highway in style.
