There are so many classic car models that you see day after day, but what about something a little different? And there are PLENTY of examples for $30k or more - sometimes much more.
But what about something for a smaller budget? And if you do find something more unique for less than $20k, what are the chances it actually runs and drives? Well take a look at this 1963 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe and you might be surprised.
This car spent time in Kentucky before moving to Texas, which has helped keep the rust at bay through the years.
Much of the Provincial White paint is original and holding up well for being six decades old.
There is a variety of new chrome and the trim looks good too.
But the real attraction of this car is that fantastic styling from 1963.
The cars from this era are some of the most beautiful produced, full of character but without the gaudiness of earlier years or the typical Coke-bottle shapes that followed.
See how the creases flow cleanly from the front of the fenders all the way to the rear grille, and the center hood spear is well complemented by the quarter panel upper trim.
The chrome American Racing wheels with Cooper tires from 2022 give the car a sporty flair too.
The Oldsmobile 394ci Rocket V8 engine remains under the hood without any significant modifications other than a Holley 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke and a chrome air cleaner (the original pieces are included).
A solid state ignition was installed as well.
This engine was factory rated at 330hp and a very healthy 440ft-lb of torque.
It is backed by a Roto Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission and a 4-link rear end.
Of course this big Olds is also equipped with power steering and power brakes.
The front suspension has been converted to adjustable coilovers along with new ball joints, tie rod ends, and suspension bushings.
A front-end alignment has been performed along with a recent oil change.
There is a new dual exhaust as well.
The red interior appears original and is in nice condition with the exception of a split seam in the front bench seat.
The rear seat, door panels, and headliner are all exceptional.
The dashboard is classic Oldsmobile with a clean appearance all the way across.
Everything is stock with the exception of a Custom Autosound twin shaft digital radio.
The wipers, horn, speedometer, fuel gauge, lights, turn signals, heater/defroster, and gauges all work properly.
Note this car is not equipped with seat belts which was the norm in 1963.
The trunk houses a full size spare and the correct bumper jack.
This Super 88 is neither a show car nor a trailer queen.
