The moniker was first introduced in 1968 to provide even more performance than a regular GT500.
History repeated itself 40 years later, albeit with far more power and performance.
The 2008 GT500KR represents a special car for several reasons.
First, as the King of the Road it represented the top-of-the-line production Mustang.
Second, the KR cars were all completed by Shelby in Las Vegas, whereas the standard GT500 models were finished at the Ford production line like other Mustangs.
Finally, this is a rare car.
Shelby produced roughly 1,500 KR models spread across only two model years (2008-2009).
