The 1965 Chevrolet C10 Custom Cab pickup represents one of the great classic truck designs.
But this one takes things a lot further with a modern Vortec drivetrain and a host of other upgrades.
It has also been finished in a Harley Davidson theme which draws attention everywhere it goes (especially if you put a bike in the bed).
The resulting package really works well and offers a ride you wouldn't expect from a 57-year-old pickup.
This rust-free example is hard to miss with its orange and black Harley Davidson theme.
I especially like how the lettering fits just perfectly between the side moldings.
The wooden bed is in nice shape, and with a full eight feet of storage you can haul a motorcycle (or other toy) and still close the tail gate.
The fuel tank has been moved out back where there is also a small Reese hitch receiver with 4-pin trailer wiring.
This truck has also been lowered front and rear, giving a terrific stance.
It wears a set of Ridler wheels with Nitto tires all around (255/45ZR18 front, 295/40ZR20 rear).
The old powertrain has been replaced with that from a late model Tahoe.
The engine is a Vortec 5300 (LM7) which is based on the LS platform with an iron block and aluminum heads.
It retains the fuel injection and electronic controls that make these modern engines so consistent and reliable; just turn the key and go! It also sounds great through the side exiting exhaust.
The automatic transmission is the matching 4L60E overdrive unit which allows easier highway speeds and better fuel economy.
There are drop spindles in front while the rear has lowering blocks on tubular trailing arms.
The truck also has power steering and power front disc brakes.
It all makes for a great driving pickup that anyone can operate with ease.
The interior continues the HD theme starting with a custom upholstered bench seat that is very comfortable.
The dash retains its factory gauge cluster which includes a functional speedometer (many such drivetrain swaps don't have this).
The lights, horn, wipers, turn signals, and heater/defroster all work as well.
There is also an aftermarket Kenwood sound system along with dual cupholders and sunvisors.
A nice touch is the old factory overdrive indicator which now functions as a check engine light - pretty neat! This really is a fun pickup.
It has all the style of the first generation C10 but with all the benefits of modern mechanicals.
It also has a fantastic look that really stands out.
Whether you just want to cruise locally or make a huge splash at Sturgis, this one will draw a crowd wherever it goes.
