Take a look at this classic Ford pickup! It combines a pristine 44k-mile 1977 body set atop a 1974 F250 4x4 chassis to give the best of both worlds; a durable Highboy with a 360ci engine and divorced transfer case, topped with a straight, original rust-free body and attractive interior.
And all at a below-market price.
The top side of this truck is straight and solid, not all beat up like so many other old pickups.
It is finished in its original Castillo Red with a Wimbledon White cab top and features Explorer package stripes, badging, and hood ornament.
Everything appears original and is in remarkable condition for a 45-year-old pickup, showing just the right amount of wear and age.
It also includes two build sheets showing a production date of 2-22-77 along with an original Ownercard dated 3-18-77.
Note the title calls out a 1977 Ford.
The underside is all factory 4x4 with a solid front axle and leaf springs throughout.
The engine is a 360ci FE mated to a C6 transmission.
The somewhat rare NP203 divorced transfer case provides full-time four wheel drive with two ranges.
The front axle is the correct Dana 44 with drum brakes while the rear is a full floating Dana 60, all with eight wheel studs.
Other features include power steering and power brakes.
Note the tires have an aggressive tread (noisy) and are more than ten years old.
The interior is in very good condition and nothing like you'd expect from a 1970's 4x4.
The red dash, doors, and carpet are nicely accented by the white seat with plaid inserts.
All gauges are present and functional with a very clean lens and surround.
There is a factory AM radio and high output heater / defroster.
The cab originally had a/c with separate controls but there is no supporting equipment.
The wipers, horn, lights, turn signals, and parking brake all work properly.
Even the glove box light still works.
1970's Highboy prices have seen some big gains in recent years.
While you see many on the market well north of $50k, this one remains relatively affordable despite its nice condition.
It is a great way to enjoy all the fun these classic 4x4 pickups have to offer.
Just be sure to measure your garage first.
